1. Theoretical considerations.
The dispersion of the electromagnetic waves consists of the dependence of the refraction index upon the frequency of the wave.
In classic theory of absorption we consider the molecule of a material as a sat of linear oscillators of different masses [mk] and charges [qk].

The dispersion of the electromagnetic waves consists of the dependence of the refraction index upon the frequency of the wave.
In classic theory of absorption we consider the molecule of a material as a sat of linear oscillators of different masses [mk] and charges [qk].
The electric field of a wave determines forced oscillations of the particles that have those masses and charges, and those particles move their equilibrium among different distances [rk].

That distance [rk] is obtained by integrating the movement equation of the k oscillator, and afterwards is obtained the relative electric permittivity εr.
Finally we obtain:

where N is the number of molecules over volume, e is the charge of the electron, m is the mass of the electron, and ω0 is the own frequency of the oscillator.
For the Hg (etalon), we obtain the line λ= (-6.0392 * Medium reading) + 876.71, which we use to determine the other λ values.
