For centures Ellis Island was the entrance gate for millions of emigrands from all over the world. The Statue of Liberty offered by the French people stands there as a symbol of democracy. New York is also the birth place of uncle Sam, the nickname for the typical citizen of the USA.
Therefore, New Yorkers have a tendency to look down on the rest of America as being rather primitive, saying that Manhattan is an island off the coast of America. În jurul insulei circulă şi elicoptere care fac curse între Manhattan si aeroport sau zone apropiate . Zona de est este o zonă circulată mai ales de elicoptere. Acum se ştia sigur că nu este vorba de un elicopter ci de un avion de dimensiune mai mica. Incendiul la sol s-a produs din cauza prabuşiri a unei parţi din clădire probabil avariată . Pompierii ajungând la faţa locului au început deja operaţiunile de salvare . Multe echipe de pompieri s-au deplasat pentru a stinge incendiul. Acesta şi-a mai pierdut din intensitate.
