Lucrare de licenta despre Literal translation method used in short stories by Herbert Wells
Our theme of course paper is entitled Literal Translation Method Used in Short Stories by Herbert Wells (from English into Romanian). We will begin with how translation is viewed and how it is perceived because our topic is directly proportional with this domain. As Norman Shapiro said: "Translation is the attempt to produce a text so transparent that it does not seem to be translated. A good translation is like a pane of glass. You only notice that it's there when there are little imperfections - scratches, bubbles. Ideally, there shouldn't be any.

It should never call attention to itself". Translation of literary works is often a hazardous and dangerous process, full of hidden traps and it demands high responsibility on behalf of translator, ability to concentrate as well as thoroughness and accuracy. Because it is a very topical and interesting theme of research we have chosen to make a thorough analysis on it.Our research is focused on analyzing the literal translation method in Herbert Wells' two very important works from English into Romanian: "The Invisible Man" and "The War of the Worlds" and their Romanian versions "OmulInvizibil" and "RazboiulLumilor" translated by AntoanetaRalian, and respectively by Cristina Jinga.
