IntroductionThe significance of the level of knowing a foreign language is extremely important, if not to tell vital, in modern world that follows the vectors of globalisation guidelines. Specifically, it can be stated with the reference to the English language which, no doubt, holds the leading position in comparison with the rest of the existing languages. However, the actual statistics indicate that the major number of people of the total number of the population of the globe whether are native speakers of English or know it as a foreign language, being able to write, read and use it in communication. There are plenty of factors which have influenced and determined the English language to possess its worldwide scale spread and linguistic impact. The essential means served the historical, political, economical, scientific, cultural, educational etc. circumstances. The spheres of usage of English represent all those multilateral domains of human daily activities. As a consequence of the increased demand, teaching English is popular.
The methodology of teaching the English language, in particular, implies the aspects of the pedagogical science which determines the basic principles of acquiring, studying and usage of English in written form or conversation. Following the steps of a gradual plunging into the theme, the topic of our Diploma Thesis: Modern English Textbook Evaluation(based on the 9th Form "English for Success") makes a clear notion of the principles and guidelines of training English language for the purpose of a more efficient mastering of its constituent elements and sections. Similar patterns must be reflected from the points of view of phonetics, intonation, pronunciation, spelling, reading, writing, listening, comprehension, speaking, dialoguing, communication etc. The essential items here are structured upon the methods and concepts of teaching of such scientists in pedagogy domain, like: Immanuel Kant, Johan F. Herbart, Ferdinand de Saussure, Noam Chomsky, Leonard Bloomfield, Michel Thomas, Benjamin Bloom, Charles Berlitz, Johann Friedrich Herbart,Lev Shcherba, John Dewey etc. If there is to refer to the theme topicality, then it can be stated that its multifunctionalism determined us about the choice of the titleas the Diploma Thesis theme. The English language maintains its constant position of the international communication language between nations and that is why any exercise oriented for its best knowing must be duly applied. However, these activities should be used by any age range learners, but specifically by pupils in schools, taking into account their interests and age. As soon as, this theme refers to the pedagogical sphere of activity, it includes the methods of teaching English as a foreign language. It needs special approaches in preparing the pupils for the process of its proper assimilation. That can be achieved throughout lots of drilling activities, as well, following the instructions of the teachers. The significance of the theme represents the interest of both sides, as the teacher, so the pupils, as well. Despite the fact that there are many research works devoted to the problem under analysis some important aspects have not been fully investigated up till present. This defines the actuality of the work upon the role of English textbooks and its theoretical and practical values. The basic purpose, hypothesis and research objectives of Diploma Thesis are formulated as a research of methodological concepts of textbooks of English and exercises, their types from the point of semantic, structural parameters and informational significance in the speech and text. The given aim predetermines the concrete tasks of the research of the Diploma Thesis pursues the following tasks, as to: 1) substantiate tasks of the functions of the textbooks; 2) reveal the theoretical notion of factor activities for the lesson of English; 3) observe emotional, evaluative, expressive components of the lexical meaning of the constituent activities; 4) work out the classification of types of installment activities and their regular usage within it. Theresearch methods which are supposed to be used in this Diploma Thesis are well-grounded and motivated in accordance with the theme Modern English Textbook Evaluation (based on the 9th Form "English for Success")under study. They are: 1) descriptive method; 2) analytical method; 3) synthetically reasoned method; 4) argumentative method; 5) comparative method; 6) associative method; 7) eliminative method; 8) coordinative method; etc. These are the most important modalities representing the major implication within the affair development. From the theoretical point of view the Diploma Thesis represents a comprehensive study and analysis of definitions and functions of English textbooks and their tasks in the curriculum that makes it possible to be revealed by means of functional features. The research of some structural components and characteristics there stimulates the possibility for some continued research of matter drilling at the beginning and during the English lesson with pupils at school. It encourages a better level of preparedness for the whole further process of the lesson. The practical value of Diploma Thesis results into the opportunity to implement the theoretical issues in practice for lessons, classes, seminars, workshops, presentations, courses etc. The novelty of our work is that the topical activities can be inspected as a necessary functional component of the lesson, as the intentional and implicational components of studying. The summary of thesis compartments consists of the following components: cover page, contents, introduction, two chapters, a conclusion, statistics, a term glossary, a summary and the reference list of the works used and the list of examples of the topic under study. The first chapter of Diploma Thesis deals with theoretical notions of the theme, which is: Theoretical concepts of the English textbooks objectives, subdivided into three items, like: 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 with a denominative title for each, accordingly, while the second chapter: Practical approaches of the English textbooks evaluation, which is segmented into eight points, like: 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.1.3, 2.1.4, 2.1.5, 2.1.6 and 2.1.7 with a title for each, refers to the pragmatic usage of English reflected from the practical references. The Appendix with more examples is provided by the end of the Diploma Thesis.
