The course paper deals with the study of Present Continuous Tense in English language ,the classification, the meaning, the structure and the types of sentences containing this tense used in short stories by Charles Dickens. The continuous and progressive aspects are grammatical aspects that express incomplete action or state in progress at a specific time. In the grammars of many languages the two terms are used interchangeably. As with other grammatical categories, the precise semantics of the aspects vary from language to language.

The actuality of the present course consists in perseverant usage of Present Continuous Tense in English language. The methods and trends of developing the topic under study are proposed to be in accordance with the requirements suggested by the world modern approaches of grammar analysis.
