Purpose: to separe iron from the mixture of iron and sulphure powder with the help of a magnet

Equipment and materials:
Equipment:1 magnet;1 stirring rod;1 spatula.
Chimicals:iron fillings;sulphure powder.

Procedure:place a spoon of sulphure powder and one of iron on the spatula and then mix them well with a stirring rod;after mixing the substances hold the magnet over the mixture

Conclusion and observation:we observe that after mixing sulphure powder with iron felling is a solid felling substance that looks almost impossible to split. By holding the magnet over the mixture we see that all the iron felling is being gathered by it and that we separed the mixture. All the iron feeling is now on the magnet, this being the result of the atraction between magnets and iron.

How can two immiscible liquids be separed?
Purpose:to separe 2 immiscible liquids
Equipment :beaker 150ml;separatory funnel;graduated cylinder 50ml;
support base; support rod;bosshead;universal clamp;olive oil

Procedure:place 150ml beaker on the bench , then measure 25 ml of water with a 50ml graduated cylinder and pour it into the beaker; add 15ml of oil into the beaker . stir the mixture with a stirring rod; close the stopcock of the separatory funnel (horizontal position ) , then pour the miwture into the separatory funnel. Close the separatory funnel with its stopper and shake it vigorously
- remove the stopper of the separatory funnel
- open the stopcock of the separatory funnel slowly to let the lower liquid layer to run out
- close the stopcock when the liquid boundary has been reached

How can be sand and water be separated from a mixture of sand and water?
Equipment:beaker 150ml;stirring rod;filter paper (filtru de hartie) ;
sand;the erlenmeyer flask of 200 ml

Procedure: put the water and the sand in the beaker of 150 ml . After mixing well the 2 substances start turning the mixture through the filter paper into the erlenmeyer flask of 200 ml

Conclusion:we see that the sand remains in the filter separated from the water which is in the erlenmeyer flask
